Chandrashekhar born on the 1st of July 1927 in a village called Ibrahimpatti of the Balia district of Uttar Pradesh in India, he grew up to do his Master of Arts from the Prestigious Allahabad University and also into a firebrand student leader.

As a Young Socialist leader, he was courageous and was called a Young Turk with a strong vision and philosophy for a socialistic India. He was influenced by Acharya Narendra Dev, who initiated him into politics and Jayaprakash Narayan.

The highlights of his Political Career include :
Rajya Sabha Member from 1962-67.
Joined Congress in January 1965.
Secretary of Congress Party in Parliament in 1967.
Started Young Indian Weekly from New Delhi in 1969.
Was imprisoned in 1975 during the emergency period.
President of the Janata Party from May 1,1977 till April 30, 1988.
Nation wide Padayatra in 1983 from Kanyakumari to Delhi covering 4260Kms.
Published “Meri Jail Diary” and “Dynamics of Social Change”.
Lok Sabha member from Balia in UP from 1977 – 8 times
9th Prime Minister of India 1990.
Won the Inaugural Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in 1995.
Founded the Samajwadi Janata Party(R) on November 5,1990.
President of Samajwadi Janata Party (R)from Nov. 5,1990 till July 8,2007.
Chandrashekhar ji passed away on July 8, 2007.
